Kandarp began his career in a volunteering role for ‘FRIENDS’ initiative of the Oneness University, Chennai, travelling to various underserved communities in Gujarat and Rajasthan. This experience moved his heart to pursue career in developmental sciences, working mainly with scheduled tribe communities. Upon completion of MBA, he joined a local NGO in Vadodara as Coordinator - Hospital Operations, looking after administrative and managerial responsibilities at three Public-Private-Partnership initiatives: A Comprehensive Emergency Obstetrics and Newborn Care (CEmONC) and two Mobile Health Units (MHU) in now Chotaudepur district of Gujarat. Later on he assumed research analyst position with Centre for Public Health Informatics – Asian Institute of Public Health, Bhubaneswar working on a metabolic syndrome related research with underserved urban and rural communities surrounding Bhubaneswar. He also served as Community Outreach Researcher, exploring feasibility of deploying public health information kiosks in urban slums of New Delhi, during his tenure with Foundation of Healthcare Technologies Society. In 2013, Capitalizing on field experience and research learning, Kandarp decided returning to home state of Gujarat and serve the needy scheduled tribe population in Dahod. He founded research organization Foundation for Diffusion of Innovations (FDI) and got it registered as non-for-profit organization. Since then he has been pursuing tribal health action research by forging collaborations with academic institutions, mentoring students and securing research grants from agencies like Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Department of Health Research (DHR). He has been co-investigator on four of ICMR research grants in the domain of maternal and child health, and road traffic accidents, is well presented in national and international conferences and has peer-reviewed publications in PUBMED-indexed journals. Kandarp has vast experience in carrying out community research right from needs assessment, conceptualization, protocol development, grant writing to research project implementation, supervision, monitoring, scientific report writing, and dissemination of study findings.
