Department of Robotics and Automation is commenced from the academic year 2018-19 with the sanctioned intake of thirty students offering B.Tech. in Robotics and Automation as it is an allied branch of Mechanical, Electronics, and Computer Science Engineering which is in function since 2010. The department has state of art facility of workshop, Electronics Engineering Labs, Mechanical Engineering Labs, Computer Science and Engineering Labs and many more. In order to strengthen the learning, various student centered activities including technical seminars, technical workshops, expert talks, industrial visits are organised on regular basis. Students have an opportunity to stretch technical potential by getting exposure to participate in state level, national level and international events under various leading student chapters of IEEE, ISA, ASME, and IEI.
The increased demand of current industry for efficiencies and safety has led to a greater need for professionals with an added expertise in the field of ‘Robotics and Automation’. In near future, the industry requires specialised workforce to replace manual labourers who will be in charge of the automated machines and robots. This course will enable students to serve the Industry requirement for implementation of new and smart technologies covering methods of synthesis, analysis & optimisation of newer robots and mechanisms.Robotics and Automation combines design, construction, operation, and application of robots coupled with computer based control systems, sensory feedback, and information processing. The design of a robotic system puts together principles of electronic engineering, mechanical engineering and computer engineering.
The initial job functions in the field include- Robotics Engineer, Robotics Wielding, Mobile Robotics, 3D Robotics, and Robotics Engineer at E-commerce Giants amongst others. Immediate & long term employment opportunities exist in the fields like industrial automation, manufacturing, agriculture, mining, aerospace, healthcare and defence. Also, this field finds applications in the regular streams like mechanical systems/design engineering, electronics systems engineering and control systems engineering.
