National Workshop on "Integrating Natural Products with Modern Techniques: An Interdisciplinary Approach"

Parul Institute of Pharmacy organized GUJCOST sponsored National workshop base on theme Integrating natural Products with Modern Techniques: An Interdisciplinary approach with the specific objective to promote a wide spectrum background knowledge regarding the principles of herbal products research which involve the development and isolation of phytoconstituents, their evaluation including chemoprofiling. The Workshop was inaugurated with lighting the lamp by Honorable guests. A welcome address was given by Dr. Abhay Dharamsi, Dean & Principal of Parul institute of Pharmacy. Dr.H.S. Vijayakumar, Registrar, Parul University had graced the function. We were fortunate to have well known and renowned speakers for Workshop. Dr. Hardik Soni, Sr. Manager-R&D at Vasu Research Centre, Vadodara, a Chief Guest of Inaugural function had given keynote address and delivered first plenary lecture with appropriate justification on Recent trends and developments in Ancient Ayurveda: A Novel approach. In second session, Dr. Mamta B.Shah, Head & Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy at L.M.College of Pharmacy had delivered her lecture on Separation and Isolation of Plant Constituents. After Lunch break Hands on training of HPLC was given by Dr.Falguni Tandel, Associate Professor, Parul institute of Pharmacy and Dr. Rakesh Patel, Associate Professor,Parul institute of Pharmacy has given Practical demonstration of Spray dryer. In third plenary Session, Mr. Akshay Charegaonkar Director, Anchrome had given an informative talk on “HPTLC for Botanical Analysis”. He also graced valedictory function as chief guest. He addressed the delegate about importance of Natural Products.

Workshop on Frontier Techniques in Preclinical Research

The workshop on “Frontier Techniques in Preclinical Research” was organized by Parul Institute of Pharmacy, with an aim to provide a platform to academicians and budding pharmacists to expand their knowledge and skills in the field of preclinical research. 61 participants, including faculty from different colleges and institutes of Gujarat participated in the event. Mr. Vineet Gopal, Executive Director, Gentech Marketing and Distribution Pvt Ltd., Delhi, graced the inaugural function as chief guest. First scientific session was conducted by Dr. Kirti Patel, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy, M S University, Baroda. She narrated about the newer avenues of cancer research.

Workshop on Patent Search Methodology

A workshop was conducted on Patent Search Methodology in October, 2013 where in Mr. Padamin Buch, Managing Director, GITOCO, PATENT CELL, Ahmedabad was invited as a resource person to emphasise the importance of patents in IPR and basic concepts of searching and filing of patents and IPR. He delivered the lecture for over two hours followed with hands on training and demonstration.
