Industrial Visits

Field Work is a part of the curriculum in all the semesters in Faculty of Social Work. The field work carries a total of six credits in each semester. The Field work is focused on rural villages, NGO’s, hospitals, Industries and social activities each semester. The students are exposed to social issues and the problems faced by people. Also, the students are given the opportunities to conduct research projects to solve the issues which have been identified by the students.

Study Tour to Goa

The study tour Goa was organized with a view to engage the students in experiential learning and add value to their education. 24 students along with the two faculty coordinators visited below mentioned organizations and had full of enriched knowledge enhancing sessions with the officials. Goa Cattle Feed Plant and Goa Dairy, Human Touch Foundation, Zindgi-Goa (NGO), Kripa Foundation, TISA [The India Stammering Association (Self Help Group) Ummid Day Care Center for elderly people an initiative of Social Welfare department, Govt of Goa covering more than 14 agencies within the span of 9 days. Team Study Tour had a privilege to have interaction with the stalwarts like Mr. Sudesh Gaude, Assistant Director (welfare of Differently abled), Department of Social Welfare, Govt. of Goa, India, Mr. Ajay Gaude, Officer of Goa Civil Services & GM, Goa Industrial Development Corporation, Mr. R S Kamat, Deputy General, Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Gajendra, HR Manager, Cromptom Greaves, Mr. Cedrick Lobo, Head HR, GKB HI-Tech Lenses Pvt. Ltd. ,Mr. James, Director, HR & Mr. Rahul, HR Manager, Godrej Factory. Mr. Tendolkar, Director, Putzmeister Concrete Machines Pvt. Ltd., Verna, Goa.

Study Tour to Jaipur, Rajasthan

The Study Tour was organized for students Jaipur, Rajasthan. The students visited various industries and NGOs like Kagzi Industries, Rays: Asha ki Kiran – an NGO, Prayas: an NGO, Ridhhi-Siddhi Glasses Pvt. Ltd., I –India – an NGO, Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti (Jaipur Foot) Hathi Kalyan Samiti: Elesafari, Chokhi Dhani – A business model etc. They also got an opportunity to explore Rajasthani culture by visiting City Palace, Sheesh Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Bapu Bazar, Amer Fort, Galtaji Temple etc.

Study Tour to Pune

The Study Tour was organized for students at Pune, Maharshtra. The students were guided and supervised by 3 study tour coordinators. The group was based at Prof. J. P. Trivedi Memorial Trust, Ghole Road, Pune for 7 days. The objective of the study tour included to gain understanding on the working of industries and its human resource management, to obtain insight about the various project activities in the NGO settings and to develop the leadership and communication skills during the planning, organizing and execution of tour activities. The students visited Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Kripa Foundation, Karve Institute of Social Sciences, GTL Pvt. Ltd., Lear Corporation Pvt. Ltd., Aseem Foundation, Mapro Foods Pvt. Ltd. and Sunrise Candles (Social Enterprise). They also visited Aga Khan Palace (Last resting place of Kasturba) and Lavasa for understanding the CSR norms and impact on community by framing a planned city.

Visit to The Green Environment Service Co-Operative Ltd

On Dated 05/03/2016 students of MSW and MSW(HR), Faculty of Social Work visited The Green Environment Service Co-operative Ltd, Effluent Treatment Plant, Vatva Ahmedabad ,where Mr.Samir Patel ( Plant Manager) welcomed us with warm regards he further oriented us on Environmental Infrastructure of the Industry. The Vatva Industries was established by Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation in the year 1960. There are approximately 1800 units in the industrial Estate out of which approx 680 generate wastewater and have potential to cause water pollution. These include unit’s manufacturer pharmaceutical products Dyes, Dye intermediates, pigments, fine chemical and other organics.

Visit to Sabarmati Central Jail and Gandhi Ashram

The main objective was to get the exposure about the jail arrangements, physical infrastructure, amenities provided, the procedures of the jail admission, payroll procedures, court procedures, female and male barracks, medical facilities, welfare activities & programmes, recreational activities, vocational and skilled based activities through which they earn their living( carpentry, weaving, printing, sewing, ironing clothes, kitchen, bakery , farming, cattle rearing etc).
