Industrial Visits

Field Work is a part of the curriculum in all the semesters in Faculty of Social Work. The field work carries a total of six credits in each semester. The Field work is focused on rural villages, NGO’s, hospitals, Industries and social activities each semester. The students are exposed to social issues and the problems faced by people. Also, the students are given the opportunities to conduct research projects to solve the issues which have been identified by the students.

Visit to Akshaya Patra, Asia’s largest kitchen and GVK EMRI

A one day Industrial visit was planned by the placement cell for the students of social work on March 21st, 2017 to get an exposure and gain Knowledge about the same. The Industrial visit was for the juniors and the agencies visited were Akshaya Patra, Asia’s largest kitchen and GVK EMRI, the centre that controls Gujarat state’s emergencies and whenever in need of an ambulance. Akshaya Patra has implemented the Mid- Day Meal programme in 27 locations of 11 states of India. Each day the Foundation feeds 1.6 million children covering more than 13,577 Government schools.
GVK EMRI (Emergency Management and Research Institute) is a pioneer in Emergency Management Services in India. As a not – for – profit professional organization operating in the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, GVK EMRI is the largest professional Emergency Service Provider in India today.
The students were able to relate with the mid-day meal schemes as Akshay Patra works in Vadodara too. A deep look into how the 108 emergency works gave them an understanding about how lives are being saved every day.

Visit to The Green Environment Service Co-Operative Ltd

On Dated 05/03/2016 students of MSW and MSW(HR), Faculty of Social Work visited The Green Environment Service Co-operative Ltd, Effluent Treatment Plant, Vatva Ahmedabad ,where Mr.Samir Patel ( Plant Manager) welcomed us with warm regards he further oriented us on Environmental Infrastructure of the Industry.
The Vatva Industries was established by Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation in the year 1960. There are approximately 1800 units in the industrial Estate out of which approx 680 generate wastewater and have potential to cause water pollution. These include unit’s manufacturer pharmaceutical products Dyes, Dye intermediates, pigments, fine chemical and other organics.

Visit to Sabarmati Central Jail and Gandhi Ashram

The main objective was to get the exposure about the jail arrangements, physical infrastructure, amenities provided, the procedures of the jail admission, payroll procedures, court procedures, female and male barracks, medical facilities, welfare activities & programmes, recreational activities, vocational and skilled based activities through which they earn their living( carpentry, weaving, printing, sewing, ironing clothes, kitchen, bakery , farming, cattle rearing etc).
