Review of Students’ Projects

Successful Completion of International Project Funded by Royal Academy of Engineering, UK by Faculty Members and Students

Royal Academy of Engineering, sanctioned £50,000 in March 2016 under Newton Bhabha Fund for the project undertaken by Parul University jointly with Larsen & Toubro and University of Surrey, UK during 2016-18.
The major research objective of the study is to reduce water consumption and optimize efficiency of thermal Power Plants using Air Cooled Condensers through a) increasing heat transfer coefficient so that heat transfer rate gets increased by studying different fins structure, fin spacing and height, b. by reducing Turbine back-pressure to improve power output and plant efficiency and c. by reducing the adverse effect of wind on fan, which increases the fan work by providing wind screen net at optimum height to nullify the effect of hot air recirculation .

Parul University jointly with L&T and University of Surrey , UK orgainzed Annual Celebrations of Royal Academy of Engineering Project on 9th July 2017 at Baroda. In the celebrations, 32 students of BE and 5 students of M.Tech who were part of the project during 2016-17 led by team of faculty members and Team Lead Dr.P.G.K.Murthy and Dr.Devanshu Patel, President of Parul University and senior officials of L&T along with Dr.Ravi Silva, Director, Advanced Technology Institute, University of Surrey participated.
Under the project, we have organized 17 workshops and about 1800 participants represented by 8 Universities , 30 colleges and 10 companies participated and got the advantage of knowledge shared by experts from L&T, University of Surrey and many other outstanding institutions like IITs, NITs, PDPU etc. Dr.Sanajay Mittal, Head, National Wind Tunnel Facility , IIT Kanpur was expert speaker in a Workshop. Feedback from participants have been excellent in almost all Workshops. We also organized Workshops at L&T, PDPU and ADIT. Students and faculty Members in Mechanical , Civil, Electrical Engineering Departments of Faculty of Engineering of PU participated in all workshops and were benefitted immensely.
