About B.Sc. Agriculture


Agriculture maintains a position of great social and ecumenic significance towards ensuring the welfare and development of the society, while at the same time maintaining the livelihood of the people. The Parul University Bachelors of Agriculture program is a 4 year program which endeavours to impart within the students the fundamentals of agriculture, while at the same time developing and nurturing an abled resource with the ability and the capabilities to navigate the various streams of the field. The Faculty of Agriculture is equipped with state of art infrastructure and laboratories which are specifically designated to ensure the practical growth and comprehensive academic development of the students. The study exposes students to some of the current concerns with the scope of agriculture along with an in-depth understanding of the position of the farmer, and engages students in search for practical solutions to alleviate these issues. The Faculty is equipped with expert agriculture faculties and academic resources who go on to play the pivotal of guiding the students towards a path of sound agricultural expertise. In addition, it goes on to expose the students to some of the latest technologies in irrigation, cultivation and other farming processes. The curriculum is strategically designed to explore some of the fundamental elements of agriculture such as soil science, plant science, plant biotechnology, amongst others. Beyond the scope of the curriculum, the program goes on to develop within the students an understanding of the business aspects of agriculture and how to best enterprise the efforts of the farmer on the commercial agro-market.

National Seminar on Hi-Tech Agriculture

Faculty of Agriculture organized a national seminar on Hi-Tech Agriculture which discussed the present scenario of the agricultural production system and the future needs to improve it. The guest speakers highlighted the issues of farming technology to increase the yields and ensure its high quality with an increased market value without the use of pesticides.

Modern Agriculture Implements for High- tech Agriculture

Fast urbanization and industrial development creates farm labor problems in Agriculture even though huge population is there for High-tech Agricultural practice like Green House ,Micro-propagation, tissue culture, Micro irrigation, Bio-and Nano technology, Mulching. Value addition needs modern implements which reduces the man power and increased the yield and income of Agriculture.

Visit of Commercial Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory

Industrial visit of trainees under 3 days workshop on commercial Plant Tissue Culture was jointly organised by College of Agriculture.The trainees visited Commercial Plant Tissue Culture laboratory for Sugarcane and Banana, Sugar Factory and its distillery at Shree Ganesh Khand Udyog Sahkari mandli Ltd., Vataria Bharuch.

Expert Lecture on Mushroom Biotechnology

An expert lecture on 'Mushroom biotechnology' was delivered by Dr. R. C. Upadhyay, Principal Scientist (Retd.), National Research Centre for Mushroom, Solan, HP to the students of College of Agriculture. Various topics were covered in this lecture like, Introduction of mushroom, History of mushroom, Types of mushroom, Uses of mushroom, Edible and non-edible mushroom, Production technology of mushroom, Harvesting of mushroom, Medicinal values of mushroom etc.
