Hands on skill workshop of “Residential Space Planning”
We held interior design workshop on 29th & 30th January 2019 for 54 students of 5th and 4th semester to understand space planning in a residential layout. The workshop was headed by Ar. Kushal Jani & Ar. Varad Pagedar, Professors at B. Design PEIT. It was a skill based workshop. In this workshop students understood various methods of laying out a plan and its presentation technique deriving a plan based on climate and context and figuring out spaces on basis of functions and connections. Students learnt a lot about planning and interiors in the workshop.
Hands on Workshop on Revit Architecture
The workshop conducted was very interactive as now a days technological revolution has made every student and Faculty to be well versed with it. The session was successful with group discussion and question answer among the participants. Small exercise for hands on practice was very useful.
Workshop on Calligraphy
This workshop contained the basic learning and practicing of how to write in different styles with simple medium. It was a three day workshop with a total of 128 Students & 8 Faculties of Parul Institute of Engg. and Tech. (Diploma Studies). This Workshop was organized by Parul University which imparted a brief knowledge about Calligraphy. Artist Mayuri Dabhi was the expert in this workshop where she discussed the design. She discussed the various styles of calligraphy with their names and gave one group activity on theme based calligraphy which students enjoyed a lot.
Expert Lecture by Ar. Darshini Jain
Ar. Darshini Jain, presently pursuing her masters degree from MSU, and having a teaching experience of more than five years, with a great hold over the subject of INDIAN ARCHITECTURE, was invited to conduct a collaborative and comprehensive lecture on topic Islamic Architecture for the students of the 2nd semester, architectural assistantship. She conducted a presentation with help of PPT and Board work, and explained different stages of evolution & Elements of Islamic Architecture. A total of 26 students attended this lecture. Drawing comparisons between buildings and deriving answers from the students was the highlight of the session.
Expert talk on “Approach to Housing Design”
We held an expert talk on 10th January 2019 for 34 students of the 4th semester to understand the basic preliminary approach to housing design. The lecture was conducted by renowned Ar. Sailesh Nair, practicing in Vadodara and Professor at PIAR, PARUL UNIVERSITY. Sir had a simpler and practical approach towards designing which he shared with the students. He talked about how building is not a singular entity but also a part of the surrounding environment and how one can enhance the experience of the user, making use of the surrounding context. He pressed upon how a house is an experience of the living and not a block to be built. Human interactions and experiences were his prime focus. Lastly he also guided the students regarding being the best and thorough at what they do, as it is the key.
Expert Lecture on Housing Design Principles
Ar. Shailesh Nair shared his vital field experience with the 4th and 2nd semester students. The session was emphasized by important factors affecting designing process of housing projects.
Expert Lecture on Design Principle
Ms. Akshata Naik delivered an expert talk on Design Principle. She is a fine artist and has done masters in visual arts. Her work is exhibited in National and International platforms. She works as the head of department at fine arts faculty at Parul University. The interactive talk was organised to develop the sketching skills of our first year students, which opened up their thinking and sketching fears.
Industrial visit at Mangala Greens, Tarsali, Vadodara
On 2nd February 2019, 10 students of 4th semester of Diploma in Architectural Assistantship visited Mangala Greens, Vadodara to obtain knowledge about the making of bricks. Here, the students learnt basics of Campus Lay out as well as understanding the individual units, the entry and circulations and fenestration as well as drainage systems. Hands on practical opportunity was given to students by their respective guides. Students were allowed to explore individually and visit all nooks and corners of the site with an informed guide provided by the campus head. The visit was very enlightening and informative for the students.
Visit at Shreenathji Bricks, Sakarda-Savli Road, Vadodara
On 30th January 2019, 23 students of 2nd Semester of Diploma in Architectural Assistantship visited Shreenathji Bricks, Sakarda-savli Road, Vadodara to obtain knowledge about the making of bricks. Here the students learnt basics of brick making, including raw materials, casting etc. Hands on practical opportunity was given to students by respective guide. Seeing bhaththi live, further enhanced their interest in building materials.
Baroda roses nursery & Sayaji garden
On 25th June 2018, 50 students of 5th semester of Diploma in Architectural Assistantship visited Baroda Roses Nursery & Sayaji garden to get the knowledge of soft & hard landscape. Here they observed types of indoor & outdoor plants, types of seating, how to create focal points in landscape, etc... They took photos and visited the site and observed the landscape. They also understood the elements of landscape.
Jami Masjid, Champaner
An Industrial visit was arranged for 2nd and 4th semester students to Jami Masjid, World heritage building at Champaner, Vadodara. It is an example of indo-saracenic architecture.
