About M.Pharm Pharmaceutical Biotechnology

With the growing trends in innovation and technology, the field of biotechnology has been on costant shift creating room for new avenues in its use through its blend with the pharmaceutical industry. The Faculty of Pharmacy offers a two year Post Graduate specialisation in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology which seeks to provide the students with an indepth understanding of the various aspects of Pharmacy which allows the student to understand this multidisciplinary field. The Pharmaceutical Biotechnology is a growing field in which the principles of biotechnology are applied to the development of drugs and formulation of developed biotechnological drugs into deliverable dosage forms. The curriculum of this program has been strategically designed to provide the students with an understanding of the majority of therapeutic drugs which are made through biotechnology processes including bioformulations such as antibodies, nucleic acid products and vaccines. The Faculty of Pharmacy seeks to provide the students with an indepth understanding of the various practical practices of the field which allows them to develop an understanding of the functionality of the industry all throughout the course of the program. Upon the completion of the program, students will get to learn the numerous avenues of the industry.
