Design thinking is a human-centred technique that a product development team applies to produce new ideas and improve current products. The process is very iterative. It means that any stage can result in an idea that necessitates repeating a previous stage. However, the team should work towards a common goal to perform such iterations. They must be on the same page and be content with the final version of the product. This can be done through a process called concepting.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Concepting?<\/span><\/h2>\n

The strategy that directs the design choices for a particular project is known as a design concepting. This strategy ensures that every component of the project matches the objectives and core values of the brand to produce a unified vision. Concepts are frequently created by research, brainstorming sessions, and stakeholder participation. These initiatives ensure the design satisfies every aspiration of the target audience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Design concepts can be represented using simple sketches or intricate diagrams with explanatory annotations. Everything depends on the project’s scope and the team’s methodology for accomplishing its objectives. No matter how complicated or simple a design concept is, it is necessary to achieve the desired outcomes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Key Stages of Concepting<\/span><\/h2>\n

Concepting usually includes three stages. These stages are interdependent due to their iterative nature. Therefore, the teams working on each of these stages should have proper communication between them to avoid silos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ideate<\/span><\/h3>\n

This step is the most important. It involves initial brainstorming of the idea. Many designers and conception experts participate in lengthy discussions to create the best plan. This stage also requires mind mapping to sketch and visualise the proposed concepts. Ideation includes creative prompts and simulation software like CAD to lock the design.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Evaluate<\/span><\/h3>\n

The ideation process will result in several simulations and prototypes. This stage aims to test these prototypes for their durability and usefulness. A designed protocol will evaluate the test subject for every performance parameter. This step judges the following parts of the design:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
