Vadodara-based PU has organised a 10-day national-level yoga training program titled “Yoga Samavesh” in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. Through its Parul Institute of Ayurved and Research, the university has taken a significant initiative in line with the International Yoga Day 2025 celebrations.
"Yoga Samavesh" brings together students, faculty members, and individuals diagnosed with diabetes to engage in therapeutic yoga sessions, expert lectures, lifestyle counselling, and live demonstrations led by professionals from the fields of Ayurveda and Yoga. Centered around the theme “Yoga for Diabetes Mellitus,” the initiative aims to raise awareness and promote holistic management of the condition. Participants will receive certificates upon successful completion of the 10-day training program.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. Hemang Joshi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Vadodara, as the Chief Guest and Smt. Rita Parashar Acharya, Chairperson of the Health Committee, Vadodara Municipal Corporation, as the Guest of Honour. Both dignitaries addressed the audience and highlighted the growing role of Yoga as an effective tool in preventive healthcare, particularly in managing Diabetes Mellitus, the central theme of this year’s training. Speaking on the occasion, the event coordinator, Dr. Dhaivat Vora, emphasized that the initiative is a step toward integrating India’s traditional wisdom with modern health needs and is aligned with the vision of promoting holistic well-being.
The event commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Hemant Toshikane, Dean, Faculty of Ayurved, who highlighted the university’s vision of advancing health practices. This was followed by a presidential address by Dr. Komal Patel, Vice President (Medical & Paramedical Health Sciences) and Medical Director, who spoke about the university’s commitment to education in healthcare and community wellness. “Yoga is a simple yet powerful way to take care of your health. Through this program, we want to help people manage diabetes and live healthier lives,” she remarked. Dr. B. G. Kulkarni, Principal, Parul Institute of Ayurved and Research, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all partners, participants, and collaborators who contributed to the successful launch of the event.
This 10-day yoga program stands as a proactive stride in advancing the national vision of “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” With such initiatives, PU continues to play a pivotal role in promoting traditional healthcare systems and making them accessible and impactful through such meaningful, large-scale initiatives.
