Why Are Global Companies Emphasizing Apprenticeship Programs?

"The only source of knowledge is experience."

                                                                   - Albert Einstein

In a recent campus drive, the Yokohama - Women Apprentice Pooled Campus Drive 2025, hosted at Parul University, demonstrated exactly how the creation of industry-academia partnerships can open up radical jobs in engineering.

This comprehensive program is an exclusive combination of a two-phase career development model that covers the area between academic theory and professional distinction. In contrast to the customary placement drives, in this initiative, the participants received two months of rigorous free training, post which, they are guaranteed one year of paid apprenticeship, giving them a systematic route to permanent employment as Junior Supervisors.

An apprenticeship program represents a structured career development model that combines hands-on professional training with formal education, creating a direct pathway from learning to employment. Apprenticeships, unlike classic academic coursework, provide the participants with a chance to learn and earn, to acquire real-life hands-on experience under the guidance of a professional expert while also getting theoretical knowledge in the classroom.  Such a dual approach guarantees that upon graduation, the participants emerge both competent technically and ready to join the workforce. On the part of students, there is no more issue of having to get work experience since apprenticeships give a sure-footed career path with increasing skills and financial freedom on day one.

The program welcomed women candidates aged 18 to 30 from diverse technical backgrounds, including ITI specializations (Fitter, COPA, Electrical, Electronics), diploma holders in Mechanical, Electrical, and Rubber Technology, all graduates, and BE/BTech students across various branches. With specific physical requirements of a minimum 149 cm height and 45 kg weight, the program ensured workplace safety standards while maintaining inclusive participation.

Participants receive comprehensive support throughout their journey, including free transportation, subsidized food, and hostel facilities for outstation candidates. The program's location in Dahej, Bharuch, Gujarat, positions apprentices at the heart of India's industrial corridor, providing exposure to advanced manufacturing processes and global quality standards.

The program offers competitive compensation across different educational backgrounds. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, participants transition to permanent Junior Supervisor roles, establishing a clear career advancement trajectory.

This opportunity emerged as more than just a placement opportunity; it was rather a strategic investment in building a skilled technical workforce, combining practical training with guaranteed employment in one of the world's leading tire manufacturing companies.
