The Faculty of Engineering Diploma Studies, provides a three year diploma program in chemical engineering which provide students with a comprehensive understanding in the field of engineering. The faculty provides students with an entry level understanding into the fundamentals of engineering which allows students to meet the academic demands of the course. The comprehensive study is designed to shape the understanding in the vital concepts of chemical engineering which include polymers, nanotechnology, computer-aided design, waste management, waste water treatment, biofuels and separation process, amongst others. The Parul University department of Chemical Engineering is AICTE accredited as a way of ensuring and providing the students the highest form of quality academics. Expert talk on “Route Cause analysis of any failure in Chemical Industries as per ISO”

In this seminar, the students were given a brief idea about the importance of quality, quality control and quality assurance in chemical industries. The main part of session was about the route cause analysis in industries- five main steps: plan, do, check, action and control.

Expert talk on “Awareness on Cleaner Production”

The Chemical Engineering Department of Parul Institute of Engineering and Technology Diploma Studies under IGBC-student chapter had organized an expert talk on AWARENESS ON CLEANER PRODUCTION for the final year students of diploma and degree Chemical Engineering students and Mechanical Engineering students. Mr. Abhi Patel and Ms. Tarjani Jani, Asst. project engineer from Gujarat Cleaner Production Centre, Gandhinagar had delivered the talk. They presented the importance and need of cleaner production in the industrial field and discussed the case study of different industrial sectors where they had incorporated the cleaner production scheme.

Expert talk on “Process Design and Engineering”

Shri Ashwin Chandarana, Engineering Consultant Proprieter-Entech Engineers, addressed the second year Chemical Engineering Students on various aspects of Chemical Engineering discipline and the use of software packages in design of petrochemical equipment for Process Industries. Shri Ashwin Chandarana, introduced the design cycle and considerations to be evaluated during the initial stage of the design. He explained application of various software packages for design of Equipments, Piping and Pipeline Engineering. The presentation was totally interactive eliciting participation of the students and encouraging them to ask questions to improve the students' knowledge.

Expert Talk on “Plant Design and Plant Layout”

Mr. Tarun Dalal, having 25 years of experience as a Mentor in Linde Engineering and Reliance Industries addressed the second year Chemical Engineering Students on various aspects of Chemical Engineering discipline and Piping and Plant Design. He explained application of various software packages for design of Equipment, Pressure Vessel, Heat Exchangers, Piping and Pipeline Engineering. The presentation was totally interactive eliciting participation of the students and encouraging them to ask questions to improve the students' knowledge.

Workshop on Plant Design

A two day Workshop on Plant Design and Analysis/P&ID was organized by Utkraanti 2018 CEA Fest IIT Madras in Co-ordination with Chemical Department (DS) on 27th and 28th February 2018 where Mr. Amit Shah (expert) conducted this successful two day workshop. He specialized in CHEMCAD and conducted workshop P and ID. About 40 students participated in this workshop. The core concept of this workshop was to understand the fundamentals of plant design in chemical industries and to understand the fundamentals of P and ID, Parts Identification & Drawing Understanding of plant.

Workshop on Chemcad

The Chemical Engineering Department of Parul Institute of Engineering and Technology Diploma Studies had organized Chemcad workshop for the 3rd and 5th semester students of Diploma Chemical Engineering. A total of 85 students had participated- 43 from 3rd semester and 42 from 5th semester. 4 faculties of Chemical Engineering had also participated. The workshop was coordinated by Mrs. Prabha Modi, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department with Mrs. Sheetal Singh of Anshi Technical Institute-Core Technology. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Uday of Core Technology, who had given an expert talk before beginning the workshop through presentation and discussion method.

Workshop on General Safety Awareness in Industry

A two day Training program on General Safety Awareness was organized for Diploma Chemical Engineering Students of Parul Institute of Engineering & Technology (Diploma Studies) to develop the skills required to understand the necessity for safety studies. The Program focused on practical application of safety methodologies, ergonomics and human factors, the different Indian and International Safety standards, causes of accident in chemical industries and various other engineering control methods. The training program was then followed by the risk assessment methods and Demonstration of different types of fire Extinguishers and Personal protective equipment and their working. They were made familiar with the major industrial Disasters and their cause through Case studies and different videos about functioning of safety equipment and fire prevention equipment were shown to them.

A visit to Industrial Expo 2019 at Akota Stadium was organized for Engineering students to explore the differential trends, innovation and new ideas in the field of industrial sector which extend and deepen the knowledge in the field of Engineering and competitive Technology.

Industrial Visit to Ami Life Science Pvt. Ltd., Karakadi

A visit to Ami Life Science Pvt. Ltd., Karakadi, for Diploma Chemical Engineering 4th semester students was organized where students were given exposure to the different types of reactors, unit operations and unit processes like Pulverization, Distillation, Tray Drier, Maintenance of Boiler Evaporation process and many more.

Unitop Chemical Pvt. Ltd was incorporated in 2015 for Manufacturing Surfactants and Specialty Chemicals. The unit is located in Dahej - Gujarat State, India and has a Head Office in Andheri Mumbai. The Company has established itself in various Surfactants, Emulsifiers and Specialty chemicals for Agro-Emulsifiers, Oil Exploration, Production, Oilfield & Refinery Chemicals, Textiles, Fibre, Pharmaceuticals, Specialities for Rubber and Plastic Industries & many more.

Industrial Visit to Sud Chemie Pvt. Ltd.

Sud Chemie India Pvt. Ltd is a leading Exporter, Manufacturer & Supplier of Catalyst for various Application, custom made catalyst and catalyst technology. Today, SCIL is pioneer in the field of catalysis with its expanded production facilities and enhanced markets and is equipped to cater to the needs of both Indian and international catalyst markets. The students were divided into three groups and then taken to three different sectors of the plant. One group visited the R & D center where performance evaluation of catalyst and synthesis of catalyst takes place. They were made aware of how the characterization of catalyst is done using different instruments like XRD, XRF followed by the PLC system of pilot plant. Then the students visited the QC/QA lab.
