FAQs

Dr. Komal Patel is Vice President for Medical and Paramedical Health Sciences at Parul University and also Medical Director there, two titles that already suggest a busy person, but what you don't get from the titles is that she's still practising as a gynaecologist and doing laparoscopic surgery through all of it. Didn't give that up. Her MBBS was from Pramukhswami Medical College in Karamsad and she walked out with a gold medal, then did postgraduate studies in Gynaecology and Obstetrics. She's Managing Trustee of the PASM Trust aka Parul Arogya Seva Mandal, a charitable trust set up in 1989 which is essentially the legal foundation the university runs on and she's on the Governing Body there too.

Medical, paramedical, AYUSH, the holistic healthcare side of a 250 acre campus, that's what she's responsible for. Multiple institutions, not just one hospital. She directly manages Parul Ayurveda Hospital herself and personally leads the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Parul Sevashram Hospital, so this isn't someone sitting in meetings all day while other people run the actual operations, she's in it. Besides this, she is the Trustee of Parul Sevashram Hospital and Director of Parul Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd and the list is endless.

NABH accreditation came through for four institutes under her, Parul Institute of Ayurved, Parul Institute of Homoeopathy and Research, Ahmedabad Homoeopathic Medical College, Parul Institute of Ayurved and Research. Those four plus two others make six AYUSH colleges from one private university all NABH accredited at the same time. First time that has happened anywhere in India from a single private university, that anyone who's been through a NABH accreditation process once knows it's not a quick or easy thing. Moreover, she leads across six colleges from the same institution, simultaneously, is genuinely a different level of effort.

She is a MBBS gold medalist from Pramukhswami Medical College Karamsad. She has even pursued Postgraduate in Gynaecology and Obstetrics after that and she's kept practising ever since, gynaecologist, laparoscopic surgeon, still doing the actual clinical work rather than stepping back from it as the administrative load grew. Before Parul University she was at Parul Maternity Home in Baroda working as Gynaecologist and Obstetrician, which is where the real clinical foundation was built. Now she heads Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Parul Sevashram Hospital.

Parul Ayurveda Hospital, directly managed by her. Six AYUSH colleges all NABH accredited from one private university, first time in India, covered already but genuinely worth repeating. The thing that gets quietly skipped in almost every writeup about her though is the copyright she holds for something called "Urdhwa Shakhagat Marma", an audio-video educational resource developed under the Faculty of Ayurved for teaching Marma, which are the vital anatomical points in Ayurvedic medicine.
