#YEEPEntrepreneurship2026 - Pitch it better with Structure, Template & Delivery!

August 25, 2026 | Abhishek Maram |

Let’s understand the basics – What’s a pitch? It’s not a short summary, it’s a wholesome story designed to fetch user attention, followed by some action from their side. To learn the in and out of pitching was a central theme of YEEP – Young Entrepreneur Exchange Program 2026 at Parul University and it was led by Mr. Aron Braun of Bern University of Applied Sciences. Let’s take you to each step!

The Art of Business Pitching!

A business pitch is a context driven and structured presentation of your business idea, intended for a specific audience, followed by securing a funding or a major partnership!

A good pitch isn’t a set of data dump, it’s a clear narrative of taking a listener to a problem and then solution. At YEEP 2026, students received hands-on experience on how a pitch is made with an energetic round of questions and answers!

Core foundation of Good Pitch!

Before any slides or artistic presentation, comes the idea of clarity and focus. You must focus on who your audience is and what they majorly care about and how they lead with problems. How to explain ideas in the simplest manner possible with confidence, evidence and no jargons at all. That’s how best pitches are designed and they feel less like some boring lecture and more like some conversation they’re legit interested in.

The Startup Pitch Template

While every pitch is different, most effective ones move through a recognisable structure. A reliable pitch template includes:

  • Problem: The real, painful problem your customer faces, told clearly enough that the audience feels it.
  • Solution: How your product or service solves that problem, simply and specifically.
  • Market opportunity: Who the customers are and how large the opportunity is.
  • Product: A quick, concrete look at what you have built or are building.
  • Business model: How the business makes money, drawn from your Business Model Canvas.
  • Traction and validation: Evidence that customers want this, early users, research, or sales.
  • Team: Why you and your team are the right people to build it.
  • The ask: Exactly what you want from the audience, funding, partnership, or support, and what it will achieve.

The One-Sentence Pitch

If you cannot explain your idea in one sentence, you do not yet understand it well enough.

– A guiding principle of the YEEP pitch sessions

One of the sharpest exercises at YEEP was the one-sentence pitch, sometimes called the elevator pitch: distilling an entire business into a single, clear line. It forces a founder to name the customer, the problem, and the unique value in one breath, and it is the hardest and most useful sentence you will write. If you can nail it, every longer version of your pitch becomes easier.

FAQs

+ What is a startup pitch?

+ What is a one-sentence or elevator pitch?

A one-sentence or elevator pitch distils an entire business into a single clear line, naming the customer, the problem, and the unique value. It forces a founder to truly understand their idea, and once mastered, it makes every longer version of the pitch easier to deliver.
