Career Options After B.Sc: Jobs, Higher Studies and Government Opportunities

India’s science and research space is getting more attention. In July 2026, the Government said its Research, Development and Innovation Scheme had an outlay of ₹1 lakh crore over six years, with ₹20,000 crore allocated for FY 2026–27. The focus covers areas such as biotechnology, AI, climate action and deep technology.

For a B.Sc graduate, this shows that science can connect with many growing areas. But the next step depends on your subject, practical skills and whether you want to start working, study further or prepare for the government sector.

Not every student has to start with an M.Sc. Some graduates may first gain practical experience and understand the industry.

Life science, chemistry and related graduates may explore laboratory testing and assistant roles.
