Follow Dishant Miyani’s journey from coding practice and open-source contributions to Google Summer of Code 2025, supported by faculty guidance and campus resources.
For many students, a career in technology starts with one simple dream: to work on something that has a global impact. But reaching that stage needs more than classroom learning. It needs regular coding practice, problem-solving, project work and the courage to apply for opportunities outside college.
A B.Tech in Information Technology can help students build this base and explore careers in software development, cybersecurity, cloud technology, data and many other growing areas.
What Do Students Learn In B.Tech Information Technology?
B.Tech IT helps students understand how software, computer systems and digital technologies work.
Students generally learn programming, databases, computer networks, web technologies, operating systems and software development. Along with theory, practical work becomes very important because technology skills improve mainly through practice.
Coding labs, technical projects, competitions and open-source work can help students understand how real software problems are solved.
From Parul University to Google: Dishant Miyani’s GSoC 2025 Success Story
Dreaming of cracking Google? Meet Dishant Miyani, a B.Tech IT student at Parul University, who has been selected for the prestigious Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2025. In this video, Dishant shares his journey of securing a 4-month internship with the OWASP Foundation, complete with a $3,000 stipend.
How Did Dishant Miyani Turn His Goal into A Global Opportunity?
Dishant Miyani is a B.Tech IT student at Parul University who had a goal that many technology students share.
As he says, “Who doesn’t dream of working at Google someday?”
His journey towards Google Summer of Code 2025 was built through regular effort.
He started contributing to the OWASP Foundation and continued working consistently for around three months.
He later prepared and submitted a detailed proposal for Google Summer of Code.
His effort led to his selection for a four-month internship programme with the OWASP Foundation through Google Summer of Code 2025, with a stipend of $3,000 for the project.
Dishant also speaks about the support he received from Parul University through faculty guidance, coding labs, tech clubs and exposure to opportunities beyond regular classroom learning.
One of his strongest lines captures this experience well: “This achievement wasn’t built overnight.”
His journey shows how steady effort, contribution to real projects and proper guidance can slowly turn an interest in technology into a bigger opportunity.
What Career Options Can B.Tech IT Students Explore?
Information Technology offers many career directions depending on a student’s skills and interest.
Students may work as software developers, web developers, cybersecurity professionals, cloud engineers, database professionals, system engineers or application developers.
Those interested in research and advanced technology may also move towards artificial intelligence, data science or higher studies.
The important part is to start building skills early instead of waiting until graduation.
Why Is Practical Experience Important in an IT Career?
Technology changes very fast.
This is why only knowing theory may not be enough.
Students who work on coding projects, contribute to open-source platforms and take part in technical communities get a better understanding of real problems.
These experiences can also help them build a stronger portfolio.
For B.Tech IT students, every project can become a small step towards a larger career opportunity.
What starts inside a coding lab can sometimes reach a global platform.
