Media and Entertainment

Alok Jain, President, JioStar

Aalok Jain is an IIT Delhi engineering graduate who worked across consulting, cement, automotive, telecom, turbine manufacturing, mining, and sanitaryware before joining media after 15-16 years. JioStar has 20 to 40 crore viewers versus Netflix’s less than 2 crore. Only around 10 to 15 out of every 100 shows and movies really click with audiences, that is just how this game has always worked. In a year where almost 400 films hit screens, the ones people actually carry home in their memory come down to maybe 10, perhaps 20 if it has been a strong year. AI, no matter how clever the models keep getting, is not the thing that will sit quietly in a corner and pull out a Theory of Relativity for us, that kind of jump still needs a human mind and that messy thing we call intuition. The biggest tool a leader can keep tucked into his back pocket, he said, is the simple guts to face the room and admit “I do not know” without dressing it up in fancy words. Money is a strange creature, the tighter your fist gets around it the faster it slips out from between your fingers, so it is wiser to keep your hands busy creating things that genuinely help the people around you. Ishan Chatterjee, CEO Jio Sports and MD YouTube India

Ishan Chatterjee, CEO Jio Sports and MD YouTube India said he way he sees leadership, empathy is not a soft skill on the side, it is the whole foundation. The trick is to actually work alongside your people, side by side on the same floor, and not from some imagined seat up above them. Speed of decision-making, in a market that keeps shifting under your feet every other quarter, has quietly turned into a competitive advantage all on its own. The students were also taken around the JioStar control room first, then the green screen setup on the next floor, and finally the wider broadcasting facility where the real work happens. Your journey, he told the young crowd very honestly, was never meant to be sprinted through in a rush, it has to be paced out slowly the way a marathon is run.

Karan Johar, Filmmaker and Producer

Karan Johar, Filmmaker and Producer says – Authenticity, and the bit of courage it takes to keep making creative risks even when the room you are sitting in is not feeling generous that day. Handling everything, and slowly figuring out how to take criticism on the chin without quietly letting it rearrange the person you actually are. Keeping your eyes on the work that matters, even on those days when the noise outside is shouting louder than it really deserves to. Ananya Panday and Kartik Aaryan, in their own way, opened up about the kind of social pressure that sits on the shoulders of their generation of actors almost every single day. Ananya Birla, when her turn came, spoke about entrepreneurship, mental health awareness, and that quiet sense of responsibility a person picks up when their platform can actually push some real impact out into the world.

Students comparing Parul University BBA review, Parul University MBA review, or commerce or CA prep often ask one thing, what kind of exposure do students actually get? The Mumbai Leadership Tour answers that better than any brochure.

Students sat with the ICAI Chairman. Four bank and finance CEOs were in the room. So was a SEBI member. That alone would have been enough. It wasn’t close to the full list.
