Shri Rohit Dave is an international motivational speaker, soft-skills trainer, corporate coach and author, and a former manager at Gujarat State Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (GSFC). He told the audience he is closely connected with Parul University, since many of its engineering students have been recruited into his former company, and that he has spoken on its stage several times.
Work more than you are paid for!
His central question to students was, “What do students want when they have the education, the skills, and the knowledge?” His response was more rapid advancement, and his first principle was to work harder than they paid him for. Do not think the job is over once it is assigned, he said. Take initiative, for that is what gives you authority, which then brings on promotions and faster increments. He said that he had asked for more responsibility and was sent to Germany, Belgium, France, and Switzerland in his company’s 10th year of work.
Master one skill, and commit to yourself!
His second rule was to become a master of one skill, which he called a person’s individuality and aura, built by choosing one thing and practicing it repeatedly. He drew a distinction that stayed with the hall.
When you tell something to your mother, father, or a friend, it is a promise. When you tell something to yourself, it is a commitment.
Once you commit to yourself, he said, it gets done. He closed with a four-step approach he attributed to actor R. Madhavan: to have a dream, turn it into determination, fulfill it with passion, and then stay committed, and he urged the students to carry the university’s name across India through their talent. Move beyond ordinary and grow your career at the intersection of AI, tech, and law by pursuing a B.Tech in Information & Technology or a BA LLB program to get placed nationally & internationally!
