A student project usually ends with a grade. At Parul University, many have gone further. Projects showcased at Tech Expo 2026, the university’s technical showcase, have led to 24 patents across fields from road safety to electric vehicle charging to agriculture.

This article details three of those innovations in depth, and links to the wider research and innovation story. In each case Parul University is the named applicant and the students, with their mentors, are named as inventors, which is how a university-supported invention is normally recorded

Four of the innovations in depth

Four of the published applications, each covered in full in its own article, are:

  • Driver Monitoring and Accident Prevention System, application 202621060933 A, filed 13 May 2026, published 10 July 2026, with Samarth Chaurasia and Aeklavya Patni as inventors
  • Adaptive Emergency Battery Recovery Device for Electric Vehicles, application 202621079184 A, filed 26 June 2026, published 14 August 2026, with Mo Akhlakh Husain Ansari listed first among the inventors
  • Automated Nursery Management System, application 202621063389 A, filed 19 May 2026, published 17 July 2026, with Shivkumar Patel, Khushi Patel, Bijoy Patel, and Shaleen Shukla as inventors
  • Shoreline Hydroelectric Energy Generation System, application 202621060927 A, filed 13 May 2026, published 10 July 2026, with Tanzil Alam, Patel Sufiyan, Rafakat Aslam Khan and Vansh Agrawal, and faculty mentors Dr. Mohatsim Mahetaji and Dr. Bhola Kumar Paswan, as inventors, from the Parul Institute of Engineering

The Shoreline Hydroelectric Energy Generation System, which turns shoreline water movement into electricity, clean water, and hydrogen, is covered in full in its own hub and inventor profiles

What a published patent application means

Publication of a patent application means the invention has been filed with and published by the Indian Patent Office. It does not, by itself, mean a patent has been granted. Grant follows a separate examination process. Each of these three is a published application, which is a recognised milestone in the life of an invention.

How TechExpo and PIERC support students

TechExpo is where these projects were first shown and selected, after which the university encouraged the teams to consider patenting. Beyond the showcase, the Parul Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Centre (PIERC) works with student teams on turning projects into ventures, and one of these teams was invited to its startup program.

The point is not that every student project becomes a patent. It is that the route from a classroom idea to a filed, published application exists on campus, and students have used it.

Read each team's story.

Each project took a different path, through different failures and fixes. The individual accounts are linked at the end of this article.

SOURCE AND CONTEXT. This article is based on the TechExpo patent interviews and the published patent application records. The applications are published, not granted. Application numbers and filing and publication dates are taken from the records as reported in the interviews.
