Yadav is a respected, highly recognised professor and Research Advisor at Parul University. He has been selected by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) for the Pharma Ratna Award. He was selected for his contributions to pharmaceutical education, research work, and drug discovery.
It matters because the Pharmacy Council of India is the regulatory body of pharmacy education and profession in India. It sets the rules and regulations for national standards within the field.
Prof. Yadav will be conferred with the Pharma Ratna Award at a formal function on 27 October 2026. Parul University has congratulated him on the achievement, describing it as a reflection of the importance of sustained academic engagement, scientific research and mentorship in strengthening India’s pharmaceutical research ecosystem. Who is Prof. M. R. Yadav?
Prof. M. R. Yadav is a well-known academician and researcher in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery. At Parul University, he formerly served as Director of the Research and Development Cell for five years, and at present serves as an Honorary Professor and Research Advisor at the Faculty of Pharmacy. Before joining Parul University, he was a Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and the Founder Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, one of Gujarat’s oldest universities. His work in research and higher education has been recognised with the UGC-BSR Faculty Fellowship.
Research in drug discovery and medicinal chemistry
Across his career, Prof. Yadav has made significant contributions to the pharmaceutical sciences and the pharmacy industry, with particular strength in the design and development of new heterocyclic molecules, a core area of medicinal chemistry that underpins the discovery of new drugs. His research output carries an h-index of 37 and an i10-index of 109, and he is ranked among the World’s Top 2% of Scientists in the Stanford-Elsevier ranking, which places him among the most cited researchers in his field worldwide.
His presence is part of a wider research culture at Parul University, which counts several faculty members in the Stanford-Elsevier Top 2% Scientists list and supports research through intramural grants, funded projects and advanced research centres. A senior medicinal chemist advising the university’s research programme both strengthens the Faculty of Pharmacy and mentors the next generation of pharmaceutical researchers.

To mark the achievement, the Faculty of Pharmacy organised a felicitation ceremony in honour of Prof. Yadav. The event was attended by university leaders including Dr. Geetika Madan Patel, Vice President; Prof. K. N. Madhusoodanan, Vice Chancellor; Dr. Kunjal Sinha, Pro Vice Chancellor; and Dr. Rajesh K. S., Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, along with faculty members and colleagues, who felicitated him for the recognition and for his contribution to pharmaceutical education, research and mentorship.
