The Faculty of Liberal Arts.
At India’s youngest NAAC A++ university, the Faculty of Liberal Arts teaches the disciplines that explain people, power, language and mind. Humanities, social sciences, media and psychology, taught with an emphasis on argument, evidence and clear writing.
In practice that means a radio lab, a media lab, a newsroom style journalism studio, the 24 Frames film studio, a psychology lab and a language laboratory, alongside a dedicated Competitive Examination Cell for students heading into the civil services. A BA here is not only reading and writing about the world. It is producing work in it, from the first year.
Class sizes stay small enough that teaching adapts to the student rather than the other way round, which is the practical reason a humanities cohort here gets more contact time than a two hundred seat lecture programme can offer.
Vision
To cultivate a transformative educational experience that empowers students to think critically, creatively, and ethically.
Mission
To offer state-of-art education through undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs, for promoting entrepreneurship, enhancing employability, excel academically, contribute socially, lead globally. and engaging in research.

Everything you need to know
Liberal Arts at PU, your questions answered.
Is a BA from Parul University recognised?
Yes. Parul University is UGC recognised, holds NAAC A++ accreditation awarded in February 2023 in its first assessment cycle, and is designated a Centre of Excellence by the Government of Gujarat. Liberal Arts degrees do not require a separate statutory council approval of the AICTE or NCTE type, so UGC recognition and NAAC accreditation are the relevant credentials.
What programmes does the Faculty of Liberal Arts offer?
Nine BA disciplines: Psychology, Journalism and Mass Communication, English, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History, Geography and Administration and Governance. Eleven MA disciplines: Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Journalism and Mass Communication, English Language Teaching, English Literature, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Geography and History. Physical education runs at both levels through BPES and MPES.
Can I take a BA if I studied Science or Commerce in Class 12?
Yes. Every BA discipline is open to Class 12 candidates from Science, Commerce or Arts, provided English was a subject. The one exception is BA in Administration and Governance, which is entrance based and carries a higher percentage requirement.
What are the fees, and are scholarships available?
For AY 2026-27, the BA and the two year MA are 90,000 per year, made up of 75,000 tuition and 15,000 university fee. BA in Administration and Governance is 1,50,000 per year with UPSC preparation included. BPES is 45,000 and MPES is 60,000. The one year MA for four year Honours graduates is 1,35,000. Merit scholarships run from 7,500 at 60 percent to 25,000 at 90 percent and above.
Does the faculty help with UPSC and GPSC preparation?
Yes. The faculty runs a dedicated Competitive Examination Cell with its own director, manager and teaching staff. For students on the BA in Administration and Governance, the competitive examination preparation fee is included in the programme fee rather than charged separately.
Can I finish a master's in one year?
Yes, if you hold a four year undergraduate Honours degree with a research component in the relevant discipline. Under NEP 2020 that qualifies you for the one year MA. Graduates of a three year bachelor's take the two year route. If your bachelor's is in a different discipline, eligibility is confirmed before admission.
What is PUPET and who needs to clear it?
PUPET is the Parul University Physical Efficiency Test. It is required for admission to BPES, the Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports, and determines a candidate's general level of physical efficiency. It does not apply to any BA or MA programme.
Can I add a certificate or diploma alongside my degree?
Yes. Certificate programmes run from 16 hours to six months and from 5,000 to 62,500. Dual degree diplomas run twelve months at 25,000 and include Journalism, Digital Marketing and Cyber Crimes and Security Laws. Post graduate diplomas run twelve months at 30,000 for graduates with 50 percent or above. These are run by other faculties and by the Centre for Distance and Online Learning, not by the Faculty of Liberal Arts.
What labs will I actually use?
Six: a radio lab, a newsroom style journalism studio, the 24 Frames media studio, a psychology lab, a media lab and a language laboratory. Journalism and Mass Communication students work across the radio lab, journalism studio and 24 Frames. Psychology students work in the psychology lab.
