An ecosystem, not a one-off

Research and innovation at Parul University are not a single programme or a single headline. They form an ecosystem that runs from funded research and recognised scientists, through student patents and global certifications, to startups that reach real customers.

This page brings that whole picture together in one place and links to the detailed stories. It is the starting point, and each section points to a fuller article.

Research and funding

The research base is substantial. The university reports Rs 58.31 crore in government funded research and Rs 4.37 crore in privately funded research, across 315 funded projects.

That work runs through dedicated research centres, among them:

  • A Drone Lab, supported by AICTE
  • The Micro Nano Research and Development Center (MNRDC), approved by the Industries Commissionerate of Gujarat
  • A Centre for Future Skills, in collaboration with NSDC
  • An R&D Centre, approved by DSIR
  • A Supercomputer Lab, state-sponsored
  • An Environmental Lab, NABL accredited

Seven faculty members feature in the Stanford and Elsevier list of the world’s top two percent of scientists. Their work, the funding behind it, and the policies that support researchers are covered in a dedicated article on faculty research, grants and patents.

Patents from Tech Expo

Student research turns into intellectual property. Twenty-four patents have been published from projects showcased at Tech Expo 2026, the university’s technical showcase. Several are covered in depth in the Tech Expo Patent Hub , in driver safety, electric vehicle charging and agriculture, and the Shore Electric Hydroelectric Energy System in clean energy, which turns shoreline water movement into electricity, clean water, and hydrogen.

Each is a published patent application, with Parul University as the applicant and the students, with their mentors, named as inventors. Publication is a recognised milestone, and it is distinct from the grant of a patent, which follows a separate examination.

Global certifications and skills

Alongside research, students earn credentials recognised worldwide. Recent examples:

  • Apple App Development with Swift Associate, cleared by ten students, read the hub
  • Red Hat Academy and the RHCSA pathway: read the hub
  • AWS certifications and the student cloud community, read the article

These are not separate from the research story. They are the same ecosystem: the Tinkering Hub, the training centers, and the student communities, producing a different kind of result.

Startups and entrepreneurship

Ideas also become ventures. The university reports more than Rs 20 crore in funding provided to startups, 254 startups incubated and supported, and more than Rs 40 crore in revenue generated by them, with the Parul Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Centre (PIERC) at the centre of it.

The range is wide, from Solnce Energy, which secured a one crore rupee investment on Shark Tank India, to Cligent Aerospace, working on a hydrogen electric aircraft, to Yield Pro Earth in low-cost irrigation. The mission behind it is a business-ready mindset: not only a placement, but also the confidence to build and scale your own path.

Student achievement and placements

The same drive shows up in placements and student journeys. The university’s placements record and its verified record of placements, research, and rankings set out the numbers, while individual student stories show what the ecosystem looks like from the inside.

Where it all connects

The threads meet in a few places on campus: the Apple Innovation Lab, the Lakshya 2047 Centre for Future Skills, the Tinkering Hub and PIERC. Together they are why a student idea can move from a workshop table to a patent, a certification or a company.

SOURCE AND CONTEXT.  This article draws on Parul University’s own research, startup and Tech Expo figures. Patents from Tech Expo are published applications, not granted patents. Links point to detailed articles and to the university’s verified records.
