From Farming Roots to a Corporate Career: Om Jaiswal’s MBA Placement Journey

For Om, agriculture has always been more than a profession, as he personally enjoys it and looks forward to continuing it in the future. While growing up, he closely noticed one single problem: farmers are putting tremendous effort into producing crops, but they struggle to market their produce. That gap, between growing a good product and getting it to the right consumers at the right value, is what pointed him toward business and marketing. Pursuing an MBA, in his view, was not about moving away from agriculture but about gaining the knowledge to eventually understand its business and marketing side better. A close friend of Om Jaiswal had referred Parul University to him, and that’s when he explored more about the campus life, opportunities, and placement possibilities. The comparison ran in, and that’s when he was sure about choosing an MBA program, as he always wanted to move out and wanted to explore more possibilities. He stayed at Kalam Hostel, took part in campus life, and even volunteered during the university’s convocation, experiences that, he says, added to his growth as much as the classroom did.

The biggest change Om noticed in himself was confidence. Through regular presentations, interaction with peers, and the university’s Impact Training program, he became far more comfortable speaking in front of people and expressing his ideas. A defining part of Om’s MBA was a 45-day internship at Techno Surge Industries in Amravati, where he worked across the purchase and logistics functions, a practical grounding that suited his interest in how products actually move. His responsibilities gave him a real feel for operational business:

• Purchase documentation – Purchase orders (PO) and maintaining entries and records.
• GRN-related documentation – Holistic front of logistics activities.
• Quality and quantity checking – Before dispatch, recording remarks and relevant information.

Rather than staying in theory, the internship let him observe how documentation, purchasing, logistics, and quality processes work in a real business, exactly the operational understanding that underpins agricultural supply chains too.

Alongside his internship, Om built the technical and professional skills employers expect. He worked with Microsoft Excel, SQL, and Power BI to strengthen his analytical toolkit and used Impact Training to sharpen his interview craft: how to enter a room confidently, maintain professional body language and eye contact, communicate clearly, and present ideas with conviction. That combination of data skills and professional communication, he says, proved especially valuable when the placement process began.

Om’s selection at Ola Electric began with a group discussion. Around 15 students were divided into groups, and the topic was pointed: “Influencers influence more than politicians.” Om took the position against the statement and argued his case, and his performance carried him through to the interview. The interview itself leaned heavily on situational questions, such as how he would handle a conflict between employees or where a manager should focus attention when sales decline. He found it comfortable precisely because the questions were practical rather than theoretical; his exposure to his family’s business, combined with the confidence he had built through training and presentations, let him approach each scenario with ease.

One detail from Om’s story is worth highlighting, because it says something about how placements actually work. He had not initially applied for the Ola Electric opportunity. It was the placement team’s repeated encouragement, prompting him to consider it and apply, that put him in the process at all. He also valued the structured, disciplined approach the training & placement cell followed: students were encouraged to understand the job description and company profile before applying and to consider whether a role genuinely matched their skills, interests, and long-term goals, rather than chasing any opportunity simply because it was available.

For all his new corporate skills, Om remains firmly connected to where he started. He hopes to stay associated with his family’s business and his agricultural roots, now with an added perspective on business, marketing, and management.
